Rediscovering Africa
Africa has an incredibly rich past. It is the cradle of humanity, where ancient civilizations thrived, empires led by warrior queens and extraordinary kings flourished, and vibrant centres of culture and trade emerged. However, for many Africa's history begins only a few centuries ago with the arrival of the Europeans and for far too long it has been overshadowed by Western narratives of slavery, imperialism, and colonialism. Sudanese journalist Zeinab Badawi joins anthropologist Marco Aime to reclaim Africa's rightful place in our global society. Together, they will explore how changing perspectives can dismantle stereotypes and amplify African voices, unearthing forgotten stories and bringing a newfound appreciation for a continent too often overlooked.
