Fourth year, in search of new topics and new methods.

The fourth edition of Festival della Mente (Festival of the Mind) – 31 August ­-2 September 2007 – looks into creative processes and, we hope, suggests new topics and above all new approaches.

This year we are presenting  ApprofonditaMente,  a series of workshop-encounters lasting about half a day each (3 hours) and conceived for a limited number of people. The project is based on an interchange of theories, concepts, projects and accomplishment: an experiment distinct from the traditional lecture but also different from courses where practical notions are taught.

ApprofonditaMente is quite unlike other Italian cultural events because of the time that will be dedicated to the various subjects, and for the fact that the events will be held for small groups in a more intimate environment. Our aim is to suggest ways of giving meaning and direction to personal creativity, constantly confronting and comparing it with the craftsman’s  pace proper to creativeness, and with a broad array of artistic environments.
The teachers, chosen for the originality they display in their various fields (writing, poetry, design, photography, botany and cinema), are asked to convey their knowledge in their own very personal way, without the constrictions of a didactic approach.

The programme (online from the beginning of July)is made up of 50 events for adults and the young, including children. It ranges from art, literature, philosophy, neuroscience, psychology and architecture right through to anthropology, religious and spiritual debate, theatre, music and poetry, and how they are interpreted by key figures of today and through historical events that have marked the western world.

Creativity:  10% inspiration, 90% sweat.
For those who don’t want to ride on the surface: 100% creativity.
