The net of Eros. Betrayal

In betrayal, the net of Eros becomes inextricable or even ironbound. Betrayed by Aphrodite and soaked in ire, Hephaestus constructs the trap where the two lovers will be caught, in a famous tale sung by Homeric bards. But is the lovers or Hephaestus himself who is trapped? When Paris and Helen flee to Troy and Menelaus arms the endeavor, overflowing with rage, is Aphrodite compensating Paris or is she trapping Helen and Menelaus in an unstoppable war? And what net is cast through the anger of scorned Medea, when she traps her enemy while trapping herself in eternal unhappiness? It is the moment of rage and of pride that, according to Plato, can give true meaning to the liberation of eros through the soul. So the soul may finally be united in reconquering itself.
